3 fatally shot in Detroit over Labor Day weekend
Three people were fatally shot in Detroit and two others wounded in three separate incidents over Labor Day weekend, the Detroit Police Department said Monday.
A teenage boy and a teenage girl, neither of whom have been identified, were found dead, each with multiple gunshot wounds, on the 15800 block of Stoepel around 3:40 a.m. on Sunday after police received calls about gunfire, according to Officer Adam Madera, a department spokesman. Witnesses reported seeing an older model, dark-colored Chevrolet Impala fleeing the scene.
Close to four hours earlier, shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday, a 23-year-old man died of multiple gunshot wounds to the chest at the Smith Homes housing project on the 14200 block of Crescent, Madera added.
Also, on Saturday, two men were shot on the 13500 block of Glastonbury around 6 a.m. — the 23-year-old in the chest and the 28-year-old in the leg. Both underwent surgery, Madera had no additional details.
